Experienced Med charter sailor seeking skipper or crew work
Hi,
I'm Victor, a 28 year old Belgian skipper looking for skipper or crew work for [trip/season/delivery].
I have been sailing since I was seven, starting in Optimists and moving up through the classes to the 470, then racing with a J/80 keelboat team before moving into yachts. I hold a Belgian Yachtsman licence, ICC, SRC VHF and first aid.
Over the past three seasons I have skippered professionally across the Mediterranean, in Greece (Ionian and Saronic), Croatia (Split) and Sardinia, for The Yacht Week, Med Sailing Holidays and Sailing Venues. I have handled monohulls up to 58ft (Dufour 46, Oceanis 51, Hanse 588) and Lagoon 42 and 450F catamarans, running full charter weeks: daily passages, Med mooring in crowded harbours, guest briefings and safety, provisioning and turnaround.
I learned my seamanship in the North Sea, sailing the Belgian and French coast between Nieuwpoort, Zeebrugge and Boulogne-sur-Mer with Channel crossings to Dover, which means tidal streams, traffic separation schemes and foreign port entry. Offshore, I have crossed from the Azores to A Coruña, roughly 900 nautical miles of open Atlantic. Building serious ocean miles is the direction I want to go.
I am reliable, adaptable, and comfortable with both charter guest work and longer passages. I am looking primarily for paid work, but I am flexible and happy to sail on an expenses basis for the right boat and the right partnership. Happy to share references or more detail, and I would love to hear about the trip.
Best regards,
Victor
