A fantastic first Crewbay experience – highly recommended!

My first Crewbay experience couldn't have been better. Magnus initially contacted me about looking after his newly acquired catamaran in Spain for a few weeks while he was away. Sure was ready as been 6 years liveaboard on Med! Although those boat sitting plans later changed, he kindly invited me instead to join the boat delivery as a competent crew. From the beginning, communication was open, friendly and straightforward. As always with sailing, the plans changed due to weather and other circumstances and the boat could not get into spot as agreed. No problem. Magnus handled everything with flexibility. He said he will still pick me up from the airport, hosted me in his apartment overnight, and drove us three hours back to the boat. Since we weren't in a rush, we enjoyed some beautiful anchorages and small harbours along the way. It felt great to be back sailing in the Mediterranean and Blue Waters while cooking some fresh seafood for us! Life on board was easy. We shared watches and daily tasks naturally, and there was complete trust between us. Magnus treated me as an equal skipper, encouraging me to make my own decisions while keeping each other informed. That level of trust says a lot about his confidence and leadership. We enjoyed several excellent days of fast downwind sailing under gennaker before reaching our planned service stop. When the maintenance took longer than expected and the forecast turned into more than a week of strong headwinds, we agreed it made more sense for me to head home instead of waiting. Once again, Magnus showed exceptional generosity by offering me his apartment until my flight and driving me to the airport. Magnus is a calm, capable and confident skipper, easy to communicate with and genuinely enjoyable to sail with. I would happily join him again without hesitation and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a safe, relaxed and well-organised sailing experience.
